Holy Chicken: The truth about Chick-Fil-A

holy chicken Holy Chicken: The truth about Chick Fil A I have never been a fan of Chick-Fil-A because I do not like fast food in general. But, I have always disliked them more than most because they pretend to be the healthier and holier option to other fast food chains. When in fact, they are pretty horrible all around! Although I want to go on a long rant, I will keep this short and just hit the main points.

For starters, chicken is NOT the healthier choice as it is often misrepresented. For years I have heard moms tell me that they don’t eat fast food or let their kids eat it, except for Chick-Fil-A because they can get “healthier” options there. In fact, factory farmed chickens contain acetaminophen, caffeine, chlorine, high amounts of sodium and MSG, TBHQ (a form of butane), artificial coloring, antibiotics, arsenic, antihistamine and antidepressants! This is also the case with other chains like KFC and McDonald’s. The only way to avoid harmful ingredients is to buy organic, or skip chicken all together.

Secondly, factory farmed chickens are treated extremely inhumane. They live in dark, cramped sheds standing amongst other sick and dying chickens in their own excrement often unable to move until they are slaughtered. That does not sit well with me when the owners claim to be devout Christians. I do not believe that God’s creatures should be drugged and tortured by the millions in the name of financial profit. The environmental impact of factory farming is pretty astonishing as well.  And, doesn’t the bible say that “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit… honor God with your body”? Not sure how their processed, unhealthy food fits into God’s plan. At least we get a break from Chick-Fil-A on Sundays.factory farming Holy Chicken: The truth about Chick Fil A

Lastly, their most recent anti-gay comments claiming the bible as the source of their beliefs seems almost comical to me it is so hypocritical. They released a statement defending their bigoted comments saying they have a history of applying biblically-based principles to their business, such as keeping its stores closed on Sundays.

Forget about them contributing to the obesity epidemic, ruining the environment, discriminating against gay people, and endorsing inhumane farming practices. They observe the sabbath. So, it’s all good!
